As Chamberlain, de Saisches enjoys closer proximity to Rei Bonafós than anyone save the queen. He takes his duty very seriously, and some say he dotes on the king. He was previously an Empyrite priest and still serves as an informal advisor and spiritual counsellor to many of the young clergymen.

Despite retaining the Belcastel name, Moreu was raised in the care of the Empyrite church instead of with his illustrious family. An intense, somewhat taciturn young man, he sadly feels forsaken by his parents and siblings. As a priest in training, he tends the church garden and worships Solis with great zeal. Where his siblings seek renown, Moreu searches for truth.

The Court Jester, the Pilloried Seer

Today, Frezols is a jester, but he was once a priest and a popular, if controversial, playwright who wrote under the penname Folquets. He was expelled from the clergy for publishing what they claimed were thinly-veiled heresies. Fortunately, before he could be exiled, Joris de Belcastel bargained to keep him as a jester – a ploy that preserved his license to critique the powerful.

The Insatiable Querent

The newest member at court and a prodigy of magic, Crespin was recently made the Herald – a royal messenger, crier, and courier. If it doesn’t overwhelm them first, the role may tempt them into becoming an incorrigible gossip. Hopefully it won’t distract from their studies, apprenticed as they are to the Royal Alchemist.

The Barren Mother of Dreams

A gentle, kindly priestess whose devotion to the Empyrites and to the King and Queen runs deep. She tends to the wounded, ailing, and orphaned, and in the past, she was known to have had something of a knack for divination, though her abilities seem to have somehow deserted her some years ago.

Recently knighted by the Queen for his bravery, young Aigolant rose from humble beginnings. Abandoned to the Church as an infant, he was given the surname “No-Name” and raised in clerical training before showing greater promise as a warrior. Whether in armor or cloth, he shows clear leadership potential – but how will he use it?

The Mage of Tomorrow

A dreamer and idealist on track to become a talented wizard. Exuperie, like their close friend Aigolant, was an orphan raised in the Church. While Aigolant showed aptitude for the sword, Exuperie took up the wand with equal enthusiasm. They’ve not only received magical training from the Royal Alchemist but also tutoring in the natural sciences from enigmatic inventor de Bernatz.

Devoted Apprentice, Diviner of Roots

Carença is a perceptive, keen apothecary who works closely with Marestan, the Royal Alchemist. Despite her vast knowledge of herbalism, she’s not as renowned as some of her teacher’s other trainees. She often sees things about people they can’t see for themselves – a trait some find edifying and others unnerving.

Master of the Hunt, Rogue Beyond the Wall

This charismatic woodsman possesses more social capital than his humble station might suggest. With his winning personality and unexpectedly broad education, he’s established a close friendship with Seneschal de Belcastel, giving him uncommon influence of an unofficial sort. As a consequence, even those above his station would like to be his friend – but he doesn’t let just anyone close.

The One Who Gazes Upon the Mountain

Honorable, upright, and dependable, Guilhem is an aspiring knight and assists Bonhomme Saint-Hylaire at the Chancery. The knights’ code of conduct is dear to him, and he frowns upon anyone who takes it less seriously. Lately, Guilhem has been troubled and distracted – afflictions he’s constitutionally incapable of hiding.
